Thames whale update

Remember the whale that got lost and ended up in the Thames? As if getting lost, swimming up the (disgusting) Thames, not having eaten squid for a week, being starving hungry and getting wretchedly thirsty wasn't enough, turns out the poor thing had arthritis too. From looking at its bones, scientists could tell that it had whale arthritis and was probably in a lot of pain. Too sad. Via BBC News.

It might look disgusting, but the Thames is presumably the cleanest river in industrial Europe and one of the cleanest tidal estuaries in the world.

Didn't know that, and I now feel the need to do a little research. It still looks pretty ick from the South Bank though...
