Earcandy round up for the weekend
I've got two types of earcandy for you. We'll start with the nice stuff. And end with the icky.
1. A New Band is Born: Inky Circus, meet Fourteen Finches.
Our friend of auld, Kurt "impeccable eye" Wong has teamed up with siren Laura Moffat. They go by Fourteen Finches - in homage to Darwin's source of inspiration. Perhaps they explain themselves best:
First there was science. Then there was music. Then... there were nice glasses. Voilà! Fourteen Finches was made. And it was good (at least in our humble opinions).
Take "Whale Song" which mixes NSF tracks of explaining how DNA works with the Humpback's eery lament. Super sweet. Have a listen at their, cause what else is there for an indie band, Myspace site.
2. What happens when a brilliant and bored lab rats picks his ear
Take a look at the fantastic post What Came Out of My Ear over at Dylan Stiles' blog:
If ever there were a reason not to work alone in lab, this is it. I was standing in front of the rotovap watching the toluene crawl over, ie watching paint dry, when I started idly picking my ear. A huge chunk of wax came out. I stared at the gooey mass and wondered to myself what’s in there?
Read on and squeal on. Whatever your reaction - mine was somewhere on the spectrum of avid I can't look away fascination - modern science is a marvellous thing. Simply marvellous.
(Michael, this one's dedicated to you)
That was great. Just what the Web is for.
