What's so bad about coffee for breaky. And Cheetos for brunch, lunch, and beyond?
Obvious news courtesy of the fantastic Science Blog:
Researcher Dr Daryl O'Connor explains: "Women who work long hours eat more high fat and high sugar snacks, exercise less, drink more caffeine and, if smokers, smoke more than their male colleagues," he points out.
Turns out we generally eat more shite food when the pressure's on. No shit Sherlock. I know I can't be the only one that eats mono-food-group meals come crunch time. Say, like that stretch of my intership where I lived off of the fruits of the vending machine. Cheetos were my favorite. The "chee" part clearly equals dairy. The "tos" must then have the starch/veg covered. Somehow someway.
Men can manage to be healthy workaholics just fine. But the good news for both sexes, the so-called "good news," is that clocking long hours keeps us away from the booze. I'm skeptical on two fronts. One, whether this is even true (I mean, really? Really?!? Any takers out there?). Even if it was, by what measure is this good? Personal experience dictates that a mellow glass of red or an icecold beer keeps the keel even. And as Martha Stewart says: It's a good thing.
I used to have a job where I was (well) paid by the hour. Come 7pm, I would think, "umm, forgot to do the shopping at lunchtime again, how about work another hour to pay for dinner?".
So I would front up at one of the local restaurants and blow the cash before I even got it.
But in those days (before the dinosaurs) nobody needed to exercise.

Sometimes you don't have time for exercise.
