Was spent in grand fashion. I began 2006 by watching the very last episode of the very last season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
But it also got me thinking about Buffy and those who judge my Buffdom membership. How great then to point out that there is a "mini frigid planet" named after her. How many people do you know who have planets named after them? None? Yeah, that's what I thought. I do believe that the last fictional characters who have namesake planets were Greek Gods, and well, what further proof do you need that Buffy is a Goddess?
The 300-600 mile wide planet is already nicknamed "Buffy the Theory Slayer" since her orbit may drive an unerring stake in the heart of solar-system-birth theory. From technewsworld:
Buffy's arresting traits begin with its nearly circular orbit. Those of its nearest neighbors are more elliptical. More puzzling, Buffy's orbit is severely tilted compared with those of planets, comets, and Kuiper Belt objects -- some 47 degrees off kilter from the rest of the solar system. It's a feature that defies all but the most convoluted explanations for how the solar system achieved its current structure, some astronomers say.
How great to know that Buffy is immortalized. If not on TV then in the stars.

Sometimes a circular orbit is just a circular orbit.
